Dotee doll fever!

You know how I mentioned last post about my goal for world domination for Dotee dolls?

Well....a little while back I discovered a bunch of photo's of Dotee dolls on flickr. com and someone kindly let me know that there are lots of Dotee doll swaps happening on http://www.swap-bot.com./.

Lots of talented ladies are making their own version of my little Dotee doll - instructions here. Which makes me so happy. If you do a search on swap-bot there are are currently 12 Dotee doll swaps going on. Valentines Dotee doll swaps, Astrology Dotee swaps, Seasons of the year Dotee doll swaps - there is even a 'Ugly' Dotee swap!

People from all over the world are embracing the Dotee doll and having fun with them. Some people who have never picked up a needle are making them and I am thrilled that they have the confidence to try something new.

My intention behind my art has always to bring color and happiness to people. And to connect to people from different parts of the world. Bring us all a bit closer together.

Artists who are making Dotee dolls understand what they are about -spreading friendship, love and joy. Isn't that fantastic?

Who would have thought that this little doll pattern would have become so popular? When I made my first Dotee doll I had no idea that everyone would love them. Myself included!

All the Dotee dolls in the photo above were made by a lovely lady called Ellen( from Simi Valley in California in the US). I discovered her gorgeous dolls on Flickr. com. Love each one she makes!

The one on the bottom left hand side of the photo (with a pink flower on her head he heee) is for the 'ugly' swap on swap-bot but I think she is beautiful, and quirky with a personality all of her own. Methinks Ellen has the Dotee doll bug and I smiled every time I see one of her creations!

The Internet has made the world a much smaller place and my heart is warm thinking of people making little dolls to swap or to give as gifts.

Am smiling so widely right now!

Please be sure to visit my friend Jacky's new blog. She has graciously bowed to pressure to start her first blog and I am so pleased. Jacky is very talented and a dear friend. And I am sure she will have lots of wonderful art to share with you . A big yay for Jacky!

Have a great week everyone.

This is so wonderful -- I wonder how many Dotee dolls are now spreading friendship and love -- thousands, I bet.

The Dotee Doll is such a charmer (as is her creator) and I just can't get enough of them -- making and receiving -- everyone loves them.

Thanks again for sharing this delightful little doll with the world.

Hugz,
Jackie

I just realised I am signed up to EVERY SINGLE swap-bot dotee swap that's live at the moment (I started 2 of them myself!), that's a lot of dotee's I am to be making, it is Dotee mania!
To give you an idea how vast Dotee mania is, with 12 live swaps and an average of 30 participants in each, that is an approx total of 360 dotee dolls being made as we speak, and that's just for swap-bot!
Pretty impressive, the dotee is taking the world by storm!

I am also signed up for every Dotee swap on Swap-Bot. In fact, I've made a special binder just to keep track of who I send to and who I receive from and when to mail by.

They are such a joy to make. I think more and more ladies will discover Dotees exponentially. World domination is not out of the question. :)

Hi, Dot!
Hope you are feeling better! I've got the flu too, up here on Kaua'i. What I'm doing to feel better is look thru' your blog! :D I made my first Dottee Doll for a journal swap I'm in. What a fun way to use up those scraps!
One thing I noticed in your tutorial was the you use "cotton wool" in your doll. The old Warm & Natural stuffing I used to use is no longer made! So all there is here is scratchy polyester! Ick! So is there somewhere I can order the cotton wool online? I've googled it but only found medical absorbent cotton! Ew! :)
Anyway, I love your little dolls & am sure I'll be making more. May even come up with a CC Doll! :D
With warmest aloha,
CC

Dotee!!

I don't know ifyou remember me, but I "met" you through the postcard fairies a lonnnnnnng time ago! I am still part of that cfommunity but not as regular any more.

I signed up for the Dotee Swap not even knowing what a Dotee Doll was. I actually thought of YOU! Because I remembered a collage you sent to me years ago and how touched I was because it was such a sweet gesture.

So to make sure i could stay in the swap, I needed to make sure I even knew what the project was. I followed links to your site and I started wondering, "OMGosh! Is this Dotee Christian?!?!" Then I saw that your Etsy parcels send from Australia...i just KNEW it had to be my long lost PCF friend. Then, there it was...in your profile...your last name.

Anyway...i am just so excited to find you and to see that you're the inspiration behind all this Dotee Craze.

CONGRATULATIONS to you!

I would love to hear from you!

I see that this post is from Jan '08, but I was wondering if you still have the dotee tutorial online. The link above doesn't work any more. I would really like to see your version of how to make them.
